Kendal recently graduated from Boot Camp and wanted to share her transformation story. She did SUCH an amazing job. Kendal was so impacted with the way that the habit of daily fitness and whole nutrition improved her quality of life that she has chosen to pay it forward as a coach! I am so incredibly proud of and excited for Kendal!
Kendal L., in her own words:
My time in boot camp has been one of the most incredible, eye opening experiences of my life. Now, if you are going to read, or have read other testimonies of boot camp experience… They all seem to start out with a statement like “This was the most incredible, awesome, experience ever!” The reason we are all saying this is because it is true. We have achieved results, and we have learned about ourselves. We have new skills for nutrition and fitness, and we have made life-long friends with total strangers.
I joined boot camp with a bit of apprehension. I had never finished a fitness or nutritional program from start to results in my life. When I was a young person I was morbidly obese, and I lost a lot of weight with gastric bypass, but gradually the weight crept on. I had made a commitment to fitness and had been doing what I could, but then I would fall off track and have to start all over.
The day before boot camp started, I adopted a two year old TBxWB cross filly that was incredibly undernourished. I had to try and get weight on her fast. Having Bree come into my life at this point was fortuitous- I realized I HAD to be able to slim down enough to start this very delicate little girl in a year or two.. and I would have to be able to maintain this fitness level if I wanted to ride her, or ride well in general.
I chose to do Piyo for my first program, because I loved the flow of yoga, and I thought I really disliked cardio work or weight lifting. Piyo is a low impact program that incorporates yoga and pilates moves, it was so fun and exciting the way they put moves together. Piyo was a fabulous experience, it showed me I COULD do things I never thought I was capable of. And when I finished Piyo, I started a new program! It is called 21 Day Fix. It is a program that incorporates nutrition and portion control with very diverse 30 minute workouts. This program is so amazing. I have decided to incorporate the eating program into my life permanently because I feel better on it and I see results.
So for my results. I have lost (and I don’t intend to find them!) 10 lbs in 10 weeks, which is perfect. I have 10 more to go, and I am not giving up until I reach my goal! On top of the weight loss, I have also lost SEVEN inches off my body, mainly in my waist and hips. I can see the results in my pictures, my waist is smaller, my stomach is flatter, and my back/hips are smoother. Not only that, but I have more energy and I feel happier and healthier.
At the same time I had been doing all this work on myself, my little filly had a surgery and was then able to eat and gain weight! So what I lost, she gained, and then some! It looks like she is going to make it, so the game plan is still on for starting her on the ground next year and then when she turns four I WILL be the first one on her back, if I keep to my fitness and nutrition plan- working with Leah.
Through boot camp I learned that there are ups and downs. Every day isn’t perfect because, well its life! Leah showed me that the only way to succeed is to push on. Don’t quit. It is harder to start over than it is to just push through. I am a work in progress. I am close to my weight goal, but not to my ultimate fitness goal.
