You may have heard the phrase, “Take the time it takes so it takes less time,” when someone is talking about training or developing a young horse. It is SO true isn’t it? Any time you short cut on anything with training a horse, it comes back to haunt you.
BUT the same thing is true of training yourself-or developing your own healthy habits, lifestyle or fitness. I see so many riders who have spent years (or decades) living an unhealthy life then get frustrated when they are not ‘perfect’ in 4 weeks. Creating a habit takes time. It seems that creating a healthy habit takes even longer. Creating a fit body takes time…sure there are shortcuts that are marketed…but remember your young horse and how those short cuts turned out.
