Nuts and dried fruits make a super healthy snack that is easy to take on the go. While I love nuts alone, I really enjoy the little but of sweetness that a controlled amount of dried fruits or dark chocolate add to the mix.
Make sure to get out your trusty kitchen scale so you know exactly how many servings you are making. While a homemade trail mix is a fantastic energy source, the calories can add up very fast if you are not sure how many servings are in your mix.
Real Fitness Trail Mix Ingredients:
56 grams Cashews
56 grams Macadamia Nuts
28 grams Almonds
28 grams Pecans
40 grams Raisins
40 grams Dried Cranberries
30 grams 65% cacao chips (I prefer darker but this is what I had on hand)
Mix all ingredients in a bowl then store in sealed container.
As mixed above, makes 9 servings.
